Our Founder

Mr. J. Gowrisankar, Founder and Chairman of Best Pumps (India) Pvt. Ltd., was born in 1944 in a humble family and rose to prominence through sheer hard work and academic excellence, securing top ranks in his Diploma, B.E., and Masters in Engineering. Starting his entrepreneurial journey in 1970 with just Rs.100/- capital, he built the Best Group of Companies into a strong symbol of unity between small industries and banks, with a current production capacity of 3.5 lakh pumps annually and a growth rate of 35 times in 40 years. A firm believer in his motto Do it now and well, he is highly quality-conscious, introducing new designs every three years, dedicating 1% of turnover to R&D, and ensuring strict quality assurance through Best Engineers, which achieved ISO 9002 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications. He has played a key role in BIS committees, chaired the Bureau of Energy Efficiencys Technical Committee on Agricultural Pumps, and pioneered ISI certification for centrifugal jet pumps (1988) and centrifugal regenerative pumps (1999). Known for designing pumps and motors that rival or surpass international standards, he received the National Award for Quality First Prize in 1987 from the President of India, cementing his reputation as a visionary technocrat and leader in Indias pump industry.
